There have been significant Legionnaires' disease outbreaks across the world in the last few years resulting in numerous deaths and hospitalisations. All the outbreaks demonstrate the importance of ongoing verification, monitoring and management assurance, rather than relying solely on periodic compliance activities. It is my belief that an independent assessment, involving discussions with key personnel and a review of organisational policies and procedures, can provide valuable insight into the effectiveness of a management system.
