I joined Assurity Consulting in September 2023 as an Apprentice Consultant after studying at Collyer’s College in Horsham.
I completed the apprenticeship programme, which gave me experience across all areas of the business while helping me learn the Consultant role while also completing a remote college course in business administration. More recently, I’ve trained to become a Legionella Risk Assessor.
The apprenticeship programme really appealed to me because it meant I could gain a qualification alongside an interesting role. The job also stood out because it involves visiting different places across the country and offers plenty of variety.
Normally, one to two days are set aside for customer report writing and admin, and I have the flexibility to do some of this work from home. The other days are spent carrying out customer work on site. Around half of these visits are local, while the others involve travel and sometimes an overnight stay.
I find the variety of site work and travel most interesting. Visiting different places means you face different challenges on site and work with a wide range of customers and companies.
The culture feels relaxed and gives you a sense of independence as a Consultant. You have the freedom to arrange visit dates and manage your own diary.
Staying away with colleagues is enjoyable, especially when it gives you the chance to see new cities and places. It is also a great way to get to know your colleagues, which is often good fun.
For someone thinking about becoming a Consultant, although the role can be challenging at times, with lots of different tasks to balance, it is a very enjoyable and varied job if you stay organised.
While working at Assurity Consulting, I took part in the Barns Green 5K Run for Macmillan Cancer, this was a fantastic day raising money for charity and the company kindly paid for my entry fee to take part.
The best part of my job is the variety in each week and the opportunity to travel to different places and the company car is a big bonus of the job!
