I joined Assurity Consulting in March 2025 as a Consultant after studying Environmental Science BSc at the University of Brighton. Before that, I also worked part time in a tearoom kitchen.
So far, I have trained in Workplace Environmental Assessments, and I am about to start learning Legionella Risk Assessments.
What attracted me to Assurity Consulting was the varied nature of the role, which closely aligned with the interests I developed during university.
A typical week involves three to four days on site carrying out Workplace Environmental Assessments, with one or two days set aside for tasks such as report writing following my customer site visits and organising my diary, where we have the flexibility to work in the office or at home.
One of the most interesting parts of the job is the travel, which gives me the chance to visit towns and cities across the UK and potentially beyond. I also enjoy visiting and meeting a wide range of customers and seeing how water services are maintained in large buildings.
The culture at Assurity Consulting is incredibly friendly, and Fridays are especially sociable when many Consultants are back in the office after a week of site visits. One of my favourite memories so far has been visiting a customer site of a very prestigious historic concert hall in London for the first time during my training.
For anyone thinking about becoming a Consultant, it is a role that stays interesting because no two days are the same. There is also a great deal of flexibility in planning your own diary, along with opportunities to train in other services and gain new qualifications, all with plenty of support and advice available.
The best part of the job is the variety, and I enjoy the mix of travelling, working in the office and working from home. The office environment is also incredibly friendly, and everyone makes you feel welcome from your first day and throughout the training period.
A particularly valuable benefit of working at Assurity Consulting is the fully expensed company car including private mileage (taxable benefit), which offers significant cost savings to me, and also the private health insurance that is available to you after a year of employment also provides you peace of peace of mind.
