I
joined Assurity Consulting in September 2025 as an apprentice consultant, after a gap year that I took once I finished my A-Levels. During that gap year, I was unsure about what I wanted to do as a job in the future, but that’s when I met the Assurity Consulting team at a careers fair. They introduced me to workplace health and safety, and compliance and immediately, I knew that this was something I wanted to pursue.
The apprentice role entails a two-year training period, and you can gain a qualification of a Level 3 Business Administration Diploma. I feel that this is an important time, that allows you to learn, alongside a mentor, and really understand the consultant role and why it is important. It gives you insight into the services that Assurity Consulting delivers, and how to do them independently. I also have monthly reviews with my manager to check up on how I’m doing, what I’ve learnt, and to give me tasks that help me expand my knowledge.
What I love about this job is that it is a hybrid work style, where you don't just sit behind a desk doing the standard nine-to-five, you could be travelling across the UK to visit sites in Manchester or work in huge buildings in London. Of course, there are still days when you are in the office doing administrative tasks, such as writing reports for the visits you’ve been on. I’m also just starting to understand the commercial elements of the business.
One great part of the apprenticeship is that you get to experience all the different parts of the business, from Customer Administration, Marketing, Finance to the Laboratory team. You are allocated either half days or full days, where you go and experience what they do within the business, and how it's beneficial not just to the overall business, but also to the consultants. This is very helpful, as it allows me to get to know everyone more easily.
At Assurity Consulting, I have found that it is an amazing place to grow as everyone is very kind and friendly, giving me the time and support to expand on my core communication skills.
So, if you are unsure about going to university, consider doing an apprenticeship. Find what you love to do, and if you’d love to have a flexible and supportive workplace, apply for a role at Assurity Consulting!
