Greg was presented the Award by Ben Shephard at the PFM Awards 2026 at the prestigious Brewery venue in London on 4th November. Greg was very surprised by his colleagues at the event, who secretly entered him for the Award, to make the event a very special occasion for him! We also had some special guests join us for the event, from the past and present to celebrate the win with Greg.
Distinguished experience and expertise
Greg is a highly respected professional with over 35 years’ experience in health and safety and environmental management, supporting the facilities management industry in meeting statutory compliance across a wide range of sectors.
Greg joined Assurity Consulting in 1989 as a consultant and later became instrumental in developing the organisation’s air and water quality services and its UKAS accredited laboratory facilities. As the business evolved, so did Greg’s role, moving into Operations Management in 1991 and subsequently leading the creation of multiple new service lines in response to legislative changes and market needs.
In 2016, Greg became Director of Market Development, where he continues to contribute to strategic growth, service development, and senior level customer engagement in the facilities management sector.
A winner in plain sight
Greg’s career is distinguished by his ability to translate challenging legislation and risk into practical, proportionate, and defensible solutions. He has been instrumental in developing award winning services across water, fire, asbestos, health and safety, access, and environmental management, while also leading senior level, strategy, policy and training for hundreds of facilities management professionals over three decades.
A recognised registered expert witness, Greg has provided independent advice and evidence to courts on over 20 occasions, including involvement in the UK’s worst Legionella outbreak. His credibility in high risk and regulated environments has made him a trusted authority for customers and regulators.
Greg has made significant contributions to the wider industry, authoring and chairing major guidance including IWFM risk management publications and CIBSE technical memoranda, and serving in senior IWFM, IIRSM and CIBSE leadership roles. He is also a prolific thought leader, with more than 500 published articles and an extensive speaking record at national events.
Greg also plays a key group level role within the Celnor Group (Assurity Consulting’s overarching group company), providing strategic technical oversight, technical assurance, and the mentoring and maintenance of consistent professional standards across multiple specialist compliance and risk management businesses.
“Greg Davies has played a defining role in building, shaping and developing the health and safety function across the Celnor Group. From starting with a blank canvas, he has created a robust, forward-thinking framework that has significantly raised safety standards for our colleagues, clients, and the wider environment. Over the past three years, Greg’s impact has been nothing short of lasting. His depth of knowledge in health and safety is exceptional, but it’s his ability to apply that knowledge in a practical, meaningful way that truly sets him apart. He has embedded a culture of accountability, care and continuous improvement across the Group. Furthermore, his work as a director at Assurity Consulting over 35 years has created a wonderful workplace and incredible client experience. Greg leaves an incredible impact on everyone that he has worked with, an inspiration but also a great teacher.” Simon Parrington, Group CEO, Celnor
Greg’s influence extends beyond individual organisations, helping to shape best practice, develop future leaders, and raise professional standards across the facilities and compliance sectors. His work consistently balances regulatory compliance with operational reality, ensuring safety results without unnecessary burden.
A legacy of leadership and influence
Greg is known for his calm, analytical, and mentoring leadership style, reinforced by deep technical knowledge and real-world experience. He has led multidisciplinary teams of consultants and subject matter experts. He’s been central to shaping Assurity Consulting’s culture and technical credibility.
A significant part of Greg’s leadership contribution is his commitment to professional development and knowledge sharing, both internally and externally, by:
- Actively mentoring Assurity Consulting’s team and emerging professionals within FM, risk, and safety disciplines; and
- Supporting the development of others through professional institutions and specialist groups.
Greg’s leadership influence makes him a highly respected figure capable of shaping standards, developing professionals, and driving positive, long-term impact across the industry.
“I consider Greg not only to be a great colleague but also a friend. He has been a mentor to me since I joined Assurity Consulting in 1996, supporting me as my line manager back then to more recently becoming a sounding board when I became Managing Director in January 2025. He has been a key part of building Assurity Consulting into the incredible place to work that it is. Greg is an incredible font of knowledge. I have met very few people who are able to retain the information and data that Greg has and then convert that knowledge into easily understandable, often fun, user-friendly content. Greg has always volunteered his time and support within the industry to impact positive change whether it is developing industry guidance or sitting on committees within the health and safety and building environments. Greg is an incredible asset to both Assurity Consulting and the whole building environment profession.” Keith Vigar, Managing Director, Assurity Consulting
