Assurity Consulting are delighted to announce that we have entered an
Employer Partner Membership with the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE), and we now have an Affiliate Organisation Membership for our organisation. In addition to this, our key fire risk assessors hold a minimum IFE Affiliate Individual membership, with some re-grading their membership depending on their experience and qualifications. We are listed on the IFE website under the Fire Risk Assessors Register – both as an organisation, and as individuals.
The IFE introduced changes in respect of the Fire Risk Assessors Register which came into effect from 1st April 2022, and these changes were in direct response to the ‘Setting the Bar’ report following the Grenfell Tower tragedy. This was a second and final report of the Competence Steering Group (CSG), and an update of its Interim Report, ‘Raising the Bar’, published in August 2019. The work was initiated by the recommendations in Dame Judith Hackitt’s review, ‘Building a Safer Future’.
The ‘Setting the Bar’ report recommended that third party certification of Fire Risk Assessors and organisations should be introduced, with registers of persons assessed by organisations accredited by the UK Accreditation Services (UKAS), and others validated by being part of a Professional Engineering Institution (PEI) licensed by the Engineering Council.
