Thomas Kingsbury I went to school at Tanbridge House in Horsham and then went on to The College of Richard Collyer. I was very interested in Business Studies and also loved Maths, so I knew that Accountancy would definitely be a route I would be interested in going down. There was the option of going to university, however Collyers offered me a chance to study for my AAT Level 2 in the evenings. They informed me that this would be a great platform for me to then be able to move onto a possible apprenticeship in Accountancy. I read up about the qualification at home and spoke to my Tutor at college about the idea and we came to the conclusion that it would be a great option and could definitely lead to great opportunities.

At the time I was studying for my AAT Level 2 I was always looking for a possible apprenticeship. I looked on all of the job sites applying for entry-level accountancy roles. I applied for Assurity Consulting because I saw an ad on Reed.co.uk which stated that they were looking for a Finance Assistant who would like to study for their AAT qualification; this was the perfect position for me especially with it being in Horsham, which is local.

I started working at Assurity Consulting on July 8th 2014 and when I started I felt very nervous. There was so much to learn. However with a great amount of support and regular reviews I have been able to overcome this and can now complete all tasks with a level of expertise.

In the time I have been with the company I have learnt a lot: how to invoice a customer, how to successfully chase debt, how to do a petty cash reconciliation, and a lot more. I feel that there is nothing more rewarding than getting an overdue invoice paid by a customer.

In August 2017, I was rewarded with a promotion to become Finance Administrator. My workload and experience have increased enormously over the last couple of years, I now deal with all customer queries, and have taken responsibility of invoicing and handling all the debtors. Over my time with Assurity I have become more responsive, as I am now focused on helping people as soon as I am able. I feel like a valued member of the team.

The best thing about working for Assurity Consulting are the people that work here, we all work to each others strengths and make sure everything is dealt with in the best way. Everyone has a huge amount of respect for each other and this certainly helps make Assurity Consulting a great place to work.
