The Dragon Boat Festival is a fast, adrenaline-fuelled and competitive team challenge and took place on the shores of Tilgate Lake on Sunday 9th September 2018.
Our crew of fisherman arrived on the day at 9am for registration. We were the first team to race and were out on the lake at 9.30am. With 13 in the boat we were a little lighter than previous years, but were hoping to make up for this with speed!
With our first finishing time at 1 minute 7 seconds we knew we had to get try and cut this down as much as possible, especially as one of the teams in our first race had achieved a time below 1 minute. With two races left to improve our time we were all raring to go.
Our final race was our record with a finishing time of 1 minute 1 second, we beat our time from last year (when we came 2nd!) but unfortunately this year the standard was just too high and we didn't make the final.
As always it was a fun day out and we were very lucky with the weather! The festival had food stalls, bars, live music and kids entertainers to keep everyone and their families entertained!
Thank you to our team of employees who gave up their Sunday to be part of this amazing day for charity! We came 17th out of 40 teams overall and raised an amazing £945 for St Catherine’s Hospice. It’s not too late to donate to this fantastic cause and you can do so here!
