On the 16th February Ian R, Jordan S, Lara and April attended the second of The College of Richard Collyer ‘Not Going to University’ events. This event was aimed at their students and there were over 400 parents and students in attendance – a massive uplift from the event last year!
This time, two rounds of question and answer panels took place in one hall whilst the company exhibition stands were showcased in another. April spoke on behalf of Assurity Consulting on the panel, telling the audience about her experiences as an Apprentice, what she has gained from it and the advice she would give to the students. This was extremely beneficial as April is a former Collyers student herself and was therefore easily relatable.
Ian R, Jordan S and Lara ran our stand, alongside other organisations such as Outreach, Nestle, RSM and the Army. The hall was extremely busy and we spoke to numerous parents and students, explaining what we do and what we offer. There were some students we met who seemed especially interested in our apprentice roles, so watch this space we may have already met our new apprentices for September 2017!
The event was successful and as well as informing others of our apprenticeship scheme we were also able to further our brand awareness. Lucy Hargreaves, Adult Learning Adviser/Work Placement Co-ordinator, sent a note of thanks following the event:
“Thank you so much for taking the time to participate in NG2U for our Year 12/13 students last night. We had a record attendance, with around 400 students and parents split across the two sessions, and the feedback received so far has been resoundingly positive.
A special thank you to all of the Q&A Panel members - our students and their parents found the panel input to be remarkably useful and inspiring, specifically the advice given to those unsure about their next steps, and particularly from students who were sitting in the audience this time last year!
I do hope that you will all participate in the event again next year - I'll be in touch as soon as a date has been confirmed.”
As a local employer this event is always beneficial for us, we gained both our amazing apprentices from Collyers previously, so we will look forward to continuing to support the event in the future.
