On Friday 1st July 2016 at the stunning South Lodge Hotel, The College of Richard Collyer held their annual Challenge of Management Day.
100 Collyer's students, all volunteers, came along to the event along with numerous 'expert advisers' from a range of businesses including HSBC and Nestle. Representing Assurity Consulting were Kim Sim, Consultancy Services Manager, Ian Robinson, Business Support Manager and April Tilson, Apprentice Consultant. Students were organised into groups of ten, headed by a local business representative. Each team battled to win a range of themed games and tasks as the day went on. The exercises were complimented by presentations and speeches by guests which focussed on education and employment from a range of angles.
A strong advocate for preparing their students for the world of work or further education, Collyer's have a "Planning Your Future" initiative, of which this annual event forms a fundamental part. Assurity Consulting have an ongoing working relationship with the Sixth Form College, working especially closely with them since commencing an apprentice recruitment drive. Our first apprentice, April Tilson was a former student and attended the day in order to make a speech about her experience working for Assurity Consulting. After the event, she commented: "The whole day was enjoyable and I think it is fair to say that each and every one of the students took something away from the day, whether it be to have more confidence in public speaking or how to strengthen their CV for when it is looked at by a potential employer!". She continued, "I look forward to continuing to support Collyer’s with future events."
Lucy Hargreaves, Employer Engagement Advisor from Collyer's commented: "Our experts have been amazing. They are all incredible supporters of Collyer’s and have given so much time, creativity and energy to help the next generation. Our students thought they were brilliant!”
Suffice it to say, Assurity Consulting look forward to getting involved in Challenge of Management 2017!
