On the 11th and 12th October we attended the University of Chichester and University of Surrey careers fairs, and on the 2nd November we attended the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton careers fair.
Each of the careers fairs ran for around four hours and we held our stand alongside some big names such as IBM, BMW and the Royal Air Force. It can be hard making your presence known among such large corporations, but we held our own and found each event to be a success! The careers fairs were busy and gave us the opportunity to meet future potential candidates for our Consultant role, as well as creating brand awareness in areas that are local to us.
The Consultant role has previously been known to be tricky to fill and requires candidates with a specific skill set. We were able to speak to over 100 students across the three fairs and gauge what sort of career they were looking for. With some of us from Assurity Consulting recently having graduated university, it was great to speak to other students about their university experiences and give them advice on their future careers.
We spoke to students studying a wide variety of courses but we usually find that students who study Geography or any of the Sciences work particularly well within our business. For those that we spoke to and thought could potentially be a good fit for the role we asked them to fill in a data entry form so that we could stay in touch with them and keep them up to date with our company news and vacancies.
All three fairs were organised and attended by Lara and Ian and they were helped out by volunteers; Reilly, Lauren, Sarah, Laura, Keith and Emma. A big thank you goes out to all of our stand volunteers as they were great assets to the team, providing valuable first-hand advice to any students who were especially interested in the specifics of the Consultant role and what a typical day involved. An extra thank you goes out to the Universities of Chichester, Surrey, Brighton and Sussex for hosting us at these fantastic events!
We now have a good pool of candidates saved, so watch this space, some of them may be recruited as Trainee Consultants in the New Year! But if you or anyone you know are interested in the role, you can find more details on our careers page.
