Springboard Make a Difference Day
On Friday 21st July, Assurity Consulting held their annual volunteer day at the Springboard Project in Horsham.
Springboard is a Horsham based community charity that provides inclusive play and leisure opportunities for families with young children and fun short breaks for children and teenagers with disabilities. Springboard is one of Assurity Consulting’s charity partners and we have been supporting them for the last 13 years. Each year we look forward to our volunteer day with them where we tidy their garden and outside areas, as well as design and paint artwork inside or outside the centre.
After last year’s Harry Potter masterpiece, we were given a free reign to refresh a wall with a new design for the children – the only steer from the Centre Manager Vickie was that they wanted it to be inclusive and include their new logo. So what better theme to have than the Incredibles on the wall? Every character from the Incredibles has a different power and the Incredibles 2 has just been released in cinemas!
Jo and Adam, two of our most artistic employees, planned the designs and Adam created the artwork in his own time. Lara and Adam visited the centre to whitewash the wall and stencil on the designs.
On Friday 21st July a group of five volunteers from Assurity Consulting set off to the Springboard project. On arrival Adam, Suzanne, Ian, Jo and Vicki split into two teams, one for gardening and one for painting and at 9am the work began.
The heat wave continued and the team worked hard throughout the day with a break for lunch. At the end of the day the garden and play areas looked perfectly tamed and tidy with their maze wonderfully shaped, once again thanks to Ian’s persistent hedge trimming! The finished artwork looked amazing, with the Incredibles prominent in the centre of the wall and the character Frozone on the right. Our talented painters even created it so that Mr Incredible was holding a flag displaying the new Springboard logo – very clever indeed! The team was very pleased with their efforts!
Vickie Harvey, Centre Manager was thrilled with the outcome and she commented, “I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone at Assurity Consulting for all their hard work on Friday. The garden looks so fantastic and we have had a lot of great comments from the members already! It really means so much to Springboard to have the annual volunteer days from Assurity Consulting because we just don’t have the time or staff to make everything look as good as you guys make it!”
After yet another thoroughly enjoyable and successful day, we look forward to 2019 and our next challenge at this amazing charity!
