Not Going to University Events
On the 17th January 2018 and the 7th February 2018 Assurity Consulting held a stand at the College of Richard Collyer’s ‘Not Going to University’ events.
The event in January was aimed at year 10 and 11 students from the local secondary schools and the February event was aimed at year 12 and 13 students from the college itself.
Katie, Callum, Sinead, April, Lara and Ian R attended and splits themselves over the two events. Sinead and Callum (both current apprentices) were on the question and answer panel at the events and spoke on behalf of Assurity Consulting. They informed the audience on their experiences as an Apprentice, what they are gaining from it and the advice they would give to the students at the beginning of their apprenticeship. This was extremely beneficial to the students as they are both former Collyers students and are therefore easily relatable.
As well as the question and answer panel we ran a stand in the Memorial Hall alongside other organisations such as Nestle, South Lodge Hotel and Virgin Holidays. The hall was extremely busy and there were over 550 students and parents in attendance over the two events! We spoke to numerous attendees, explaining what we do and what we offer. There were some students we met who seemed especially interested in our apprentice roles, so watch this space we may have already met our new apprentices for September 2018!
Lara Batley, Marketing Coordinator, commented “I think these events are a brilliant idea and they become more popular each year. It is a good opportunity for us to showcase who we are and our apprenticeship scheme and it is an event we will continue to take part in. We have a great relationship with Collyers and are also currently supporting them in their new employability course.”
The event was successful and as well as informing others of our apprenticeship scheme we were also able to further our brand awareness. As a local employer this event is always beneficial for us, to date we have gained a total of five apprentices from Collyers, so we will look forward to continuing to support the event in the future.
