Chestnut Tree House Volunteer Day
On Monday 16th April 2018, a team of nine from the office spent the day gardening in the grounds of Chestnut Tree House.
Jordan W, Stefi, Chris H, Alex M, Sarah C, April, Lara, Richard and Heather each used their ‘Make a Difference Day’ to volunteer at the children’s hospice in Arundel.
On arrival the team was a tour of the house, it was an amazing opportunity to see how great the house truly is. They make it as welcoming as possible to ensure that all the children feel at home. They have thought of everything - lots of different spaces such as a music room, a sensory room and even a swimming pool!
In the beautiful gardens of the house, the team spent the morning topping up some of their built flower beds with soil and replanting some of their plants. It was mild outside and the sun was shining, the team were very lucky with the weather! After spending the morning sorting out the flower beds the team took a lunch break outside on their picnic benches.
They spent the afternoon getting rid of the stinging nettles around their woodland walk and tidying up their memorial garden. They like to keep the memorial garden perfect all year round so that it looks nice for when parents and family members come to visit.
The team at Chestnut Tree House was so grateful for our support, Flick, Head of Maintenance for the charity commented, “Thank you so much to all of you for coming and helping out today. We rely on our volunteers to help us keep our extensive grounds in check. It really makes a big difference as there are only two of us in the team and it saves the cost of bringing in others to do it. The children love being outside in the garden, especially in summer, so we feel it’s important to keep looking fresh!”
Chestnut Tree House are our charity of the year for 2018 and we have already organised another volunteer day with them in September 2018!
