The Ripple Effect - Water Continuity

Ripple of water

Question - What currently do Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, parts of Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, West Norfolk, Shropshire, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, East Sussex and Kent have in common?

Answer – Well apart from taking up a lot of the East, Central and South of the country they are all experiencing drought, low river flow or slow ground water recharge. And we are in the ‘wetter’ part of the year apparently. Our milder winters while appreciated by some are having a negative consequence for others.

Over recent years we have also had a number of extreme weather events where weeks or month’s worth of rain is falling in hours / days. The inevitable flooding that results is another unwelcome consequence. As we have no control over where either of these trends / events may strike next, how resilient is your premises or organisations to the variations of over or under water supply? Here are some questions you may need to consider:

  1. Is your building in a recognised flood area?
  2. What critical systems or services do you have that could affect your business operations if lost through a flood?
  3. What systems and services do your premises have that are reliant on water?
  4. Which of the systems you have that are reliant on water are critical to the operation of your organisation?
